Div. 7 Specification Review

Review Thermal and Moisture Protection Specification Division 7 sections concerning air/vapor barriers, roofing, flashing, wall systems, and waterproofing. Review the above items for clarity, completeness, and consistency.

Verify that they are technically sound with no ambiguity to create issues during the construction process.

Submittal & Shop Drawing Review

Submittal review is to verify and confirm that specification requirements have been met with the proposed and requested systems for projects. Shop drawing review is to verify for proper installation of proposed system. Review is of components is necessary for the proposed system as to their location and installation, including items such as fasteners, flashing, trim, insulation, membrane, and other system items.

Interim Roof Inspections

Provide an independent review on ongoing system installation. Inspections at various stages of installation are always important to verify that specifications are being met and to correct any minor issues before they become major issues.

Even though this service is provided by various system manufacturers, by
contracting with an independent firm such as ours, the inspector’s accountability will be with the owner and not the contractor doing the installation.

Interim Wall System Inspections

As wall systems are totally dependent upon their flashing to properly protect the structure, it is important to have them inspected before completion of the total wall system. Once the wall system is in place, aesthetics and visible components of the finished system are all that can inspected. It’s too late to correct any issues after the wall is completed. Ongoing installation inspections are the way to avoid issues after completion.

Interim Air Barrier/Vapor Barrier Inspections

The importance of interim inspections with air/vapor barrier systems is the same as with wall systems. In order for these systems to function properly, their interface with windows, doors, foundations, roofs, and other building components need to be installed in accordance with the design specifications. The only way these items can be adequately verified is through an interim inspection.

Interim Waterproofing System Inspections

The importance of interim inspections with waterproofing systems is the same as with wall systems. In order for these systems to function properly, their interface with doors, foundations, footings, corners, and other building components need to be installed in accordance with the design specifications. The only way these items can be adequately verified is through an interim inspection.

Inspection & Review of Existing
Problematic Roof & Wall Systems

Diagnosis of air leakage, vapor/condensation, and water leakage issues in roofs, walls, foundations, and air/vapor barrier systems is a methodological and technical analysis utilizing all aspects of building technology. A consultant must understand how each system works independently as well as how they work together. With our knowledge and experience in both the design and installation of these systems, we are able to diagnose any and all issues.membrane, and other system items.
